TEACHING PRACTICE
TEACHING PRACTICE WEEK 2 : " MONDAY FRIDAY " : 24/06/2024 - 28/06/2024.
Reflection on School experience
In the first day of this week ,we all reached school at 9.30 am.Today was the first day of school to plus one students all pupils and parents have been there.During the second period I had substitution class at 9.E where I took the topic Peculiarities of plasma membrane to transport substances in and out of cell.Then during the seventh period I had substitution class at 9.D where I did diagnostic test there whole other periods are free for me and I did my works.
The second day, we all reached the school at 9.30 a.m. after signing the register we went to our alloted classroom. The first two hours was free for me and during the third period I had class in my concerned class 9.D but I cant take the class because KSU had announced an educational strike so number of students were less.And the school was ended by 12.00 pm,we left the school after after signing the register.
During the third day of this week, we reached school at 9.15 pm.Today was International day against drug abuse ,during the first period there was an oath taking and poster presentation of spc students in the auditorium we also took part in it.I had substitution class at 9.E during the second period where I took the topic experiment to show the transfer of water molecules through the process of osmosis. Then the periods upto noon was free for me.During the fifth period again I had substitution class at 9.E where I took the next topic water transport in cells through the process of osmosis there Then the last two periods was also free for me, after signing the register we left the school at 3.40pm.
During the fourth day of this week we reached school at 9.15 am after signing the register we went to our alloted classroom.Today our option teacher Sreedevi miss and general teacher Meenu miss had arrived school for observation. I had class at 9.D during the third period where I took the topic Phases of photosynthesis .Then periods upto noon was free for me then during the fifth period again I had substitution class at 9.D where I took the next topic Metabolism of starch and its storage forms in plants .Then the next period I had substitution class at 9.E where I taught the topic Role of diffusion in the transport of oxygen through plasma membrane. Then the seventh period was free for me and we left the school after 3.40.
Today we reached school at 9.15 A.M and the first two periods were free for me then during the third period I had substitution class at 9.D where I took whole class remedial teaching based on diagnostic test the topic was Process of transfer of substances into the cytoplasm in different organisms. The next period also I had substitution class at the same class where I taught the next topic Autotrophs and Heterotrophs .During the sixth period also I had substitution class at 9.D where I took the topic Ocean pollution- reasons and preventive measures rest of the periods were free for me and we left the school at 4.15 pm.
CURRICULAR AND CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
During the third week the students of class 9 were taught the topics Phases of photosynthesis, Metabolism of starch and its storage forms in plants, Autotrophs and Heterotrophs and Ocean pollution- reasons and preventive measures by using various aids such as charts, models, diagrams,videos and slides
The reflective journal was also completed this week
OVERALL REFLECTION OF CLASSROOM EXPERIENCE
The students of class 9th standard were given teaching manual oriented activity based classroom experience. Four teaching manual of class 9 were complete effectively.The topics covered are Phases of photosynthesis, Metabolism of starch and its storage forms in plants, Autotrophs and Heterotrophs and Ocean pollution- reasons and preventive measures and Evaluation was made by asking questions from the topics.Students were given various follow up work like assignments and still model making.
Suggestions made by teacher educator for further improvement
1. LESSON TEMPLATE
POSITIVES: All components of lesson plan including targeted learning objectives are clearly defined, reflects all important concepts, prerequisites well accomodated ,clear and accurate classroom interaction procedure.
2.INTRODUCTION OF THE LESSON
POSITIVES: Good, prerequisites checked well, aroused interest, curiosity, given mental readiness.
3.DEVELOPMENT OF THE LESSON
POSITIVES: Meaning ful, Open ended questions were used to develop the lesson, self construction of knowledge is encouraged, multi level questions were used to develop the lesson, scaffolding, individual attention given well, teacher movement purposeful, meaningful and reinforcement was given at times of some activity.
NEGATIVES: Teacher movement is less,limited time is given for writing answers for hint chart.
4. AUDIO VISUAL AIDS
POSITIVES: Chart good, legible,neat, good learning aids / models used well, Black board used well to introduce New terms.
NEGATIVES: Writings in the black board is reduced.
5.LEARNING EXPERIENCE
POSITIVES: Varied,real life related,age appropriate, adequate, interesting.
6.LEARNER INVOLVEMENT
POSITIVES: All given equal oppertunities ,initiativeness of autonomy encouraged.
7.CONTENT MASTERY
POSITIVES: Good, adequately delivered ,good supplimentary knowledge.
8.CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
POSITIVES: Knows the names of all students,good, controls misconduct well.
9.CLOSURE OF THE LESSON
POSITIVES: Summarised and reviewed all points well using all learning aids.
10.ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION
POSITIVES: Formative evaluation is given /done through out, as per objectives which were prefined.
NEGATIVES: Forget to remove some charts initially.
Suggestions made by general teacher educator for further improvement
● Black board should be used to introduce new terms and facts.
● Teacher movement during the class.
● Time allowed to students to do works has to be increased.
Desicion taken by student teacher for further improvement
● Movement in class to be increased.
● Black board to be used well.
● Picture chart to be used along with description chart to explain the concepts.
● All charts should be removed before review.
● More time should be allowed to students to find the concepts.
